Paper Transport Develops Regional Distribution Strategy

Paper Transport is making moves to further develop its local and regional distribution networks. The truckload carrier, headquartered in Green Bay, WI, is developing this focus as part of an effort to help shippers reduce transportation costs and inventoried product volume.

Jeff Shefchik, President of Paper Transport, notes, “There are a number of factors driving shippers toward regional distribution. Earlier in the year the high fuel prices pushed up the cost of transportation driving customers to develop creative solutions to cut transportation costs. Now, the challenging economy has shippers moving in the same direction. We believe that as the economy turns around and fuel prices are driven up, this will remain a long-term strategy for most shippers.”

As part of this Paper Transport has regional operating centers in major transportation hubs including Jacksonville FL, Dallas TX, Milwaukee WI and Chicago IL. They will also maintain the Wisconsin intrastate fleet that has been the core of their one way freight system.

“We look forward to the success of this operation. Diverse, strategic moves such as this have been the back bone of Paper Transport. We believe this model will lead us to continued success through the challenging economic times.” notes Shefchik.

Paper Transport, headquartered in Green Bay, WI, currently operates 218 power-units, with a focus on regional truckload service, dedicated operations and intermodal drayage.
