July 12-18, law enforcement throughout North America and Canada will be looking for drivers engaging in unsafe driving behavior’s on our nation’s roadways. The week-long initiative will focus on speeding, due to an alarming increase of average speeds measured during the first week of April, 2020. According to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), speeds increased 75% compared to January and February. (PTI) was able to quickly adapt its advanced tablet technology to new driver orientations, shortening the training period from an in-person 3-day orientation to a virtual 1.5-day orientation. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, trucker deaths continue to rise and are at their highest level in more than 30 years. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Thursday, May 14th, that revisions have been made and the Hours of Service Rule will be changing as early as September. Drivers, such as over-the-road and Regional Class A CDL truck drivers, will have more flexibility in how long they are able to sit behind the wheel before taking a mandated break.
