PTI Kicks Off Driver Appreciation Week With Raise
Green Bay, WI – Kicking off Driver Appreciation Week, Paper Transport, Inc. has announced a pay increase, a detention pay increase, and a 50% cut on time waiting before detention pay is paid out.
A 0.02 CPM pay increase for all mileage based drivers, including company and owner-operator drivers, is merely the first step. “At PTI, we always want to be in the top-tier of pay packages for our drivers because it’s the right thing to do in ensuring our drivers make a good living,” stated Joe Shefchik, PTI VP Business Development. “It’s a hard job that really enables the American way of life and those who are willing to do it should be compensated well.”
Waiting for a load is a contentious topic that affects all drivers across the industry. Released in conjunction with the pay increase, PTI also targeted driver detention time by paying drivers $16.00 per hour after one hour of wait time – an industry leading change. “We constantly hear from our customers as they ask what we are doing to improve driver capacity,” stated Jeff Shefchik, PTI President. “One big step we take here is paying for driver wait time after 1 hour. Drivers, like everyone else, do not want to be on the clock without being paid. This is a big step in that direction.”
Attracting and retaining high-quality, skilled drivers who will ensure they and the motoring public are safe on the road was a critical key in PTI’s decision for these changes. “Building the overall driver fleet is a responsibility that we as leaders in the transportation industry all own,” Shefchik stated. “We’re pushing pay and working conditions to make that a reality.” With its driver growth up 22% over the last year, Paper Transport, Inc. continues to improve the quality of life for its drivers by focusing on building a great and safe place to work.
Leaping from the rank of 238 in 2013 to 200 in 2014 with an overall increase of 19.6% in the Commercial Carrier Journal’s Top 250 Trucking Companies, Paper Transport, Inc. (PTI) has big plans in its next fiscal year to build a safer company that is driven by its slogan What Drives You?™(TM), which targets driver’s needs as well as strives to improve their quality of life at home and on the road.
